Ms. Reena Saha’s Message

This office of the CAG and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is collaborating to develop a set of online courses to resolve the problem of non-availability of suitable accountants in Local Government. The problem can largely be addressed by creating a pool of accountants willing to work in local areas and possessing the requisite skill-set to prepare the accounts of LSGs. This would be a significant contribution to skill development and over time, create the requisite pool of accountants whose services the LSGs could use, as
per their requirements. I eagerly anticipate the beneficial influence of these courses on the maintenance of Accounts of PRIs and ULBs, as well as on the governance framework at the grassroots level.
