Ms. Mamta Varma, is an Indian Information Service Officer of 1994 batch, currently serving as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India. Ms. Varma leads the Fiscal Devolution and Policy Division. She also leads the Ministry’s efforts to promote Audit of Panchayat Accounts to bring greater transparency and accountability in functioning of rural local bodies.
In a career spanning around 30 years, she has worked in various Ministries including Law & Justice, Telecom & IT, and HRD, engaging in policy formulation and strategic communications.
